Where Earth Meets Sky

In recent dune paintings I work back and forth with sky and land shapes to create the edge where they meet. The spaciousness of the sky seems to contain the dunes and whatever lies beyond them (in this case, the sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan). Orange-y light caught on the grasses from the low-angling sun creates the thrill of juxtaposed complementary colors.
