7 Habits of Deeply-Fulfilled Artists: Your Aesthetic Needs & How to Meet Them  $14.95

I wrote this book when I realized the artists who came to me seeking technical instruction were actually looking for a way to get past their resistance to making art. This book offers you insight into and strategies for overcoming obstacles in pursuing an art life. Intended as practical advice for addressing tough issues artists in all media face, readers have told me this is a book they read and re-read with highlighter in hand. I read it myself when I want a reminder of the experience-based wisdom that's so easy to forget.

From the back cover:
Are you more frustrated than fulfilled in your art-making? Does your creative expression seem blocked? Do you only make art in workshops or classes? Do you want to be something more than a student or dabbler? Does lack of time, space, or money prevent you from doing your art?

7
Habits of Deeply Fulfilled Artists will help you:
Discover why you need to make art
Increase your willingness to do your art
Create intentions and set goals for art projects
Bring greater awareness, direction, and value to your art life
Experience wholehearted satisfaction as an artist

 Reviews:

Not since The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron, have I been as inspired as I am reading 7 Habits of Deeply Fulfilled Artists. I use the present tense because it offers support to which I'll return again and again. The concept of "aesthetic needs" immediately resonated with me. It gave a name to a passion I'd long felt within. The author invites you to be gentle with yourself while offering simple, practical steps to living your commitment to making art. Although, she speaks to those desiring to live an artist's life, her advice would serve anyone striving to fulfill his or her purpose in any endeavor. I am in deep gratitude for finding this book.     T.P.

Sprinkled with quotes of wisdom, this book covers a full spectrum of practicality through spirituality of the creative experience. Ellie has written this book after intense personal soul searching, so it tends to resonate immediately with the artisitic intuition of the reader. A delight to read and recommend.     A.N.

I have known Ellie Harold for almost twenty years, first as a spiritual teacher, then as an artist, but always as a friend with an amazing ability to communicate in a very original way. I have also owned a contemporary art gallery for 25 years. I loved this book for many reasons, the first being that I got to hear her "voice", which is unique and powerful. But what I most enjoyed was her writing about making Art, about how she allows spirit as art to flow through her and she gives us insight into how to get our resistance out of the way. These are things she always taught as a Unity minister, but applied to art her guidance makes both more understandable. This book is great for those ready to deal with the logistics of getting serious about their own art, but it is also a book for those trying to make sure that art and the art market don't strip the soul out of the process. This is a difficult subject and Ellie has done a great job of reminding us that Art is a rare and beautiful place to be.    G.T.

Unhooking was originally intended by the author as a gift to family and friends on the occasion of her 75th birthday in September, 2014. A diagnosis of cancer, however, delayed the process, and the self-published edition of this book was delivered into the author’s hands the day before she died on May 20, 2015. As we believe that Beeby Pearson’s poetry merits a wider reading, Clear Light Press now offers her self-selected poems to a public audience.
