I recently drove to the East Coast on a quest for lighthouses to paint. I wondered if I'd find them as alluring as I had barns. I found a beauty on Martha's Vineyard East Chop and spent several afternoons painting there. But I was not smitten. When I got home last week, instead of working from photo references of the various lighthouses I'd found, all I wanted was to paint flowers. As we've had a long warm autumn, I was still able to find a few stems to inspire me in painting still life. I'm in love again.
