Summer Scapes: Pleasure in Paint

|
Folks have been asking for months if I'm going to have an "art event" this summer. Because, for me, pretty much every day is an art event, I haven't exactly known what to tell them. But now I do! August 6, from 3-6, I am hosting a special Artist Reception called "Summer Scapes: Pleasure in Paint."
When people tell me it looks like I'm having a lot of fun painting, I sometimes react, mumbling to myself, "It may look like fun but it's actually work." (Because art-making is my day job!) Then, knowing what they're trying to say, I can smile and say: "Yes, I'm fortunate to have work that gives pleasure in so many ways."
The newly emerging body of work I'll be showing on August 6 is particularly filled with the pleasure I'm currently taking in painting in large formats; making loose, unexpected marks; and using color in ways that surprise. Come claim some of this pleasure for yourself! Click here for details.
Note to online fans: Lots of folks see my work online and let me know how much they love it. But, how much can a tiny image tell about a painting that's 5' x 7'? As the song says, "There ain't nothin' like the real thing ...." Come to lovely Frankfort and see firsthand the paintings you enjoy on Facebook or on my website. |
